2. Click points in the workspace to draw lines that form the straight edge of the selection.

The rectangular marquee tool allows you to make basic rectangular polygon selections that have a maximum of four sides. Look in the toolbar for the polygon lasso tool icon which looks like an upside down hanger tv antenna. Click the icon to activate it in the editor and load the polygonal lasso tool settings in the options bar.

Creating a Polygonal Selection

The polygonal lasso tool is a straightforward tool. All you have to do is click points in the image to form the line segments to make the edges of your selection. When you click a point a line follows the mouse cursor as it hovers over the image to form another point. This line shows the edge before you click the point to set it. To complete the polygonal selection click the starting point or double click to close the selection on that clicked point.
